How to Hunt a Mammoth without Getting Trampled
The Chair on Sex, Gender and Mental Health is proud to partner with the 1st International Scientific meeting of the Quebec Suicide Research Network by participating in a round table on the issues of sex and gender in research on suicide on August 26. International and local speakers will come and present their research on the causes of suicide and prevention of it. The round table on gender issues in research on suicide will support the importance of taking into account the variables of sex and gender research in suicide prevention.
A partnership between the Chair on Sex, Gender and Mental Health and the Girls Action Foundation was recently established for the submission of a project to the organization of a scientific day entitled: Conférence Nationale sur le genre et la santé des adolescents submitted to the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Institute of Gender and Health. The aim of this project is to organize a national meeting with scientific researchers working on gender and health to discuss new avenues in research on adolescent’s health in Canada.
A partnership between the Chair on Sex, Gender and Mental Health and the Groupe d’action sur le poids Équilibre was recently established for the submission of a project called: ''L’importance du facteur genre dans la saine gestion du poids'' to the Public Health Agency of Canada. The aim of this project is to better understand the influence of gender on healthy weight management practices in order to develop interventions that respond to the needs and specific interests of men and women.
